TDM WI is a traffic wireless sensor system suitable to be used in combination with traffic lights controllers. The wireless sensors are embedded in the road checking the vehicle presence even in queued conditions; an high efficient wireless technology sends the presence data to a Traffic Light Interface Card featuring 16 channels dry contacts. In this way the events collected from the sensors trigger the activation of the dry contacts exactly as inductive loops.
The main advantages of the TDM WI system are:
- Quick and easy installation
- Completely independent power (the sensor battery life is 5 years guaranteed)
- Easy maintenance
- Excellent performances even in presence of queuing vehicles or in congested traffic conditions
A similar technology has been developped for Roadside Parkings: for these type of applications, the battery life is guaranteed up to 10 years, since the sensors don’t need a fast communication to the hub. Viceversa, for parking bays, a wireless repeater is suggested since the distance between the sensor and the hub could be higher than the allowed radio range (100 m). The repeater is normally installed on a pole along the road and can manage up to 50 sensors, while the system hub can manage up to 10 repeaters.
